During 2018 our constitution was amended, and approved by the Charity Commission, so that our help with support and purchases could be extended to community services working alongside our hospital and medical centres. With more emphasis on ‘Care in the Community’ we can now ensure that our local healthcare staff are fully equipped to meet the demands of the 21st century.
During the last year we have purchased equipment totalling £38482, and this would not have been possible without the continued support from our local community. Funds are received in many ways, such as personal donations, legacies, donations in memory of loved ones and various fundraising events. We are particularly grateful for the collections received during the summer at the Pendeen car boot sales (this year totalling over £7000).
We have various plans in the pipeline to purchase more equipment requested by the hospital, and we are keen to use our funds in the best possible way.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our secretary, treasurer, vice chairman and all the trustees of The League of Friends for their continued support and input at our bi monthly meetings and at other events during the year.
Sadly, this year, our former long standing chairman Candy Baker resigned as a trustee and moved out of county to be nearer her family. She is now settled in a Nursing Home, and become fully involved in their day to day activities. We wish her well, and thank her for all the years of dedicated service she has given to the league.
Thanks are also due to the wonderful staff at our community hospital who continue to give excellent service which is greatly appreciated by the patients who need to stay there from time to time.
Thank you all for your support during 2018.
Ray Hockin (Chairman. The League of Friends of Stratton Hospital).
